FREIRE SHIPYARD RELIES ON FORAN TO BUILD HULL-723, AN OCEAN RESEARCH VESSEL FOR THE BELGIAN GOVERNMENT24/02/2020 (Spain)
On Tuesday, February 11, the vessel "Belgica" was launched at FREIRE shipyard.
Overall length: 71.40 m.
Beam: 16.80 m.
Draft 5.00 m.
Crew: 40 people.
Speed 13 knots.
In this project to build an ocean research vessel for a consortium between the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS), the Belgian ministry of defence, and the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO), FREIRE shipyard, extensively used their FORAN CAD/CAM system to perform most of the production engineering tasks involved in hull structure, piping and machinery / outfitting disciplines.
The FORAN software, developed and owned by SENER, can be used at every phase of the ship design process in a fully integrated manner thanks to its single database system, which can yield to a considerable reduction in the delivery time and cost of the vessel.
SENER congratulates the FREIRE group on this project, and wishes it a very successful future.
